ED 431 Web 2.0 Fundamentals

This summer I am taking ED 431 Web 2.0 Fundamentals. This is the third course I’ve taken through University of Alaska Fairbanks’ (UAF) Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Online Innovation and Design (ONID) program. You can view the course openly online at https://sites.google.com/a/alaska.edu/ed431su13/home

Do I feel a silly taking a Web 2.0 Fundamentals course at this point in my education and career, particularly given my experience and personal interest in this area? Yes. But this is a required course for the ONID and there is always more to learn! Thus far in the semester, I have learned more about web hosting and learned the differences between WordPress the website (with which I have extensive experience) and WordPress software used on your own domain (which is new to me but very similar once installed). More to come!

I will post my assignments and such here as I progress through the semester. Please note that many of my class posts will be in draft form. I encourage comments and suggestions for improving the content or delivery so I can incorporate them into my final draft submitted for each assignment.

  1. I’m glad to hear how excited you are to be in the ONID program. I realize that the course is labeled under “Fundamentals,” but you should never feel silly taking a fundamentals course — especially one involving the Internet! The beauty of this particular course is that content will never become boring or redundant because it is constantly changing AND the content is so vast and has become so interactive there is always more to learn. That’s how I see it, anyway!
